After graduating from the National Conservatoire in Prague (piano and composition), DANIEL DOBIÁŠ started working as a music redactor (1971–1996). During his studies at the National Conservatoire he began working with the most renown Czech chansonnier, Hana Hegerová. He composed songs for the words by well-known lyricists and poets. His songs were included into the repertoire of many popular singers. He also composed music for theatre performances, TV films and radio plays. Recently he has been working on several projects in the Czech Republic and abroad, and has taken part in the project Sonnets of Shakespeare where he composed music for translations by Martin Hilský. Since the 1990s he has been performing all across Europe and toured five time across the USA and Canada, he went on a major tour across New Zealand, Australia and South Korea. He was invited to participate in Franz Kafka – Jorge Borges biennale in Buenos Aires with the project: WHAT GOOD´S THE SUN WHEN THERE´S NO DAY?
