Samuel Rubinstein (1886-1952) was one of the founding members of the Jewish Choir Association in Finland and he arranged Yiddish and Hebrew songs for the choir. By profession Rubinstein was a German teacher.
In 1940-1941 Rubinstein was chairman of the Jewish Community of Helsinki. During the war he also chaired a Jewish Refugee Committee that took care of Austrian refugees in Helsinki.
Rubinstein's choral arrangements from the collection of the Jewish Choir Association in Helsinki were used in the production of Jac Weinstein's tableau Mother Rachel and her children at the 'Out of the Shadows' festivals in Madison, Leeds and Prague, 2016.
