Benjamin Hancock is a Melbourne based dancer who graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2008 with a Bachelor of Dance. As a performer, he has worked with a wide range of artists including Anthony Breslin, Antony Hamilton, Brous, Chunky Move, Clairy Browne and the Bangin’ Rackettes, Cobie Orger, David Wells, Dirty Three, Francis Rings, FUR Hairdressing, James Welsby, Katie Noonan & The Captains, Kirsha Kaechele (MONA Gallery), Lucy Guerin Inc., Martin del Amo, Narelle Benjamin, Opera Australia, Paul Malek, Prue Lang, Richard Nylon, Sex On Toast, Sue Healey, Super Wild Horses, Supple Fox, Tristan Meecham, Vertical Shadows and 2ndToe Dance Collective. His recent performance credits include ‘On View’ Sue Healey Company, ‘SPACEPROJECT’ Prue Lang for Dance Massive Festival Melbourne 2015 He is an Artistic Associate and founding member of 2nd Toe Dance Collective with whom he has been working since 2007. Benjamin is also a prolific solo performer, having presented work for Kirsha Kaechele (MONA Gallery) Prospect 3 New Orleans Biennale, Chunky Movea’s Next Move (Princess 2014), Melbourne Now National Gallery of Victoria, Lucy Guerin Inc.’s Pieces For Small Spaces, Faux Mo at the Mona Foma and Dark MOFO Festivals Hobart. Most recently Benjamin was nominated for a 2017 Helpmann Award in category Best Male Dancer in a Ballet, Dance or Physical Theatre Production for his work in Lucy Guerin Inc’s The Dark Chorus.
