The performance created by Lisa Peschel and Craig Harris (musical director and pianist) for our one-day pilot festival in Madison, Wisconsin, USA featured selected scenes and songs from the cabaret Laugh with Us, written and performed in the World War II Jewish ghetto at Terezín/Theresienstadt in June 1944, performed by actor/singers Ryan Lindberg and Sara Richardson. The performed works were interspersed by Peschel's commentary on the history of the ghetto.
For many years the script Laugh with Us was thought lost, but thanks to two survivors of the original production it came to light again 2005, when researcher Lisa Peschel was trying to locate works written in the ghetto.
