Choral piece Eyli, Eyli (My God, my God), marked as opus 5, was composed by Simon Parmet in 1919. The lyrics, which echo the words of psalm ‘My God, why have you forsaken us?’, were Parmet's adaptation of the words of Jacob Sandler's famous song with the same title.
Parmet composed the piece during the massacres of Jews in the Civil War in Ukraine.
