The Jewish Drama Society in Helsinki, Yidishe dramatishe gezelshaft in Helsingfors, was founded by Jac Weinstein in 1922. It was fashioned after hundreds of similar societies in the Eastern Europe fostering and advancing Yiddish theater. Besides classics of the Yiddish theater, the Jewish Drama society performed comedies and revues satirizing local Jewish life written by Weinstein. The activity of the society ceased in the 1950s Yiddish giving way to Swedish and Finnish.
